The Asbestos Awareness Training Course can be completed fully online. It is designed for individuals who work in buildings where asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM) are present. Asbestos is extremely hazardous so it is very important to understand how to safely work in these buildings. Asbestos training is a must if you work in these buildings to comply with strict OSHA requirements. This course provides a basic foundation of asbestos safety and is two hours in length.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has developed asbestos certification requirements for the construction industry 29 CFR 1926.1101 and the general industry 29 CFR 1910.1001. This is because asbestos is very hazardous and can cause severe health conditions like asbestosis and cancer. OSHA requires that individuals working in buildings containing asbestos must attend training to prevent exposure. This 2 hour Asbestos Awareness Training course is intended to help comply with the training requirements outlined in the United States Code of Federal Regulation.

The following information was designed as a resource for employees and contractors that work in buildings where asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM) are present. In order to work in these buildings, you are required by strict Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) law to complete asbestos awareness training.
According to the EPA regulations governing schools, all school staff custodial and maintenance workers who conduct any work that may result in the disturbance of asbestos-containing building material (ACBM) must receive 16 hours of O&M training. This includes the 2-hour Asbestos Awareness Training along with 14 hours of Special O&M Training.

Complying with OSHA Law
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires all employers to enforce and ensure participation in worker training programs for employees exposed to asbestos fiber levels (either measured or anticipated) at or above the permissible exposure limit (0.1 fibers per cubic centimeter (f/cc) as an 8-hour, time-weighted average (TWA) and/or the excursion limit.
Complying with EPA Requirements
EPA regulations require governing schools, all school staff custodial and maintenance workers who conduct any activities that may result in the disturbance of asbestos-containing building material (ACBM) receive a mandatory 16 hours of O&M training (2 hours of Awareness Training and 14 hours of Special O&M Training).

Training Required By Law
- Complete an Asbestos Awareness Training program. The course is 2-hours long and is approved by EPA regulations. This online course is $30 and can be completed at any time to ensure that contractors or employees are able to be properly certified.
Awareness Training covers the following information:
- Background information on asbestos

- Locations of ACM in the building
- Recognition of ACM damage and deterioration
- Receive a downloadable certification that you can present to your employer to begin work. Employers must have documented proof on hand that their workers have completed this program.
